Wiz Khalifa's 'Black And Yellow' Tops Hot 100

As perhaps as consolation for forlorn Pittsburgh Steelers fans, Wiz Khalifa's Steel City anthem "Black and Yellow" ascends to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, jumping 4-1.
Will Next Week Bring The Billboard Hot 100's 1000th No. 1?
Though the Steelers lost Super Bowl XLV Sunday (Feb. 6) to the Green Bay Packers, the song registered gains in sales and airplay in the week leading up to the NFL title tilt. The Rostrum/Atlantic MC's "Black and Yellow" holds at No. 2 on Digital Songs (198,000 downloads sold, up 6%, according to Nielsen SoundScan) and pushes 10-7 on Radio Songs (81 million audience impressions, up 11%, per Nielsen BDS).

"Black and Yellow" displaces Bruno Mars' "Grenade" (1-2) after four nonconsecutive weeks atop the Hot 100, while Katy Perry's "Firework" holds at No. 3. The "Glee" cast's cover of the latter track is set to make a lofty launch on next week's survey following its digital arrival and premiere on last night's (Feb. 8) episode of the Fox series.

On Radio Songs, "Firework" ignites 2-1 (129 million in audience), making Perry only the third solo female artist, following Mariah Carey and Rihanna, to link three consecutive No. 1s in the chart's 20-year history. "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg (three weeks) and "Teenage Dream" (one) previously topped the tally.
After zooming 11-2 last week with the Hot 100's Digital Gainer award for a third consecutive week (the longest streak since Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" in 2008) and looking like a potential No. 1 this week, P!nk's "F**kin' Perfect" dips 2-4. The song descends 1-3 on Digital Songs (187,000, down 22%), although it continues its vault up Radio Songs, bounding 22-16 in its fifth week on the airplay list (56 million, up 26%).
Dr. Dre lands his highest Hot 100 debut, as "I Need a Doctor," featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey, blasts in at No. 5. The second single from the rapper's forthcoming album "Detox" begins atop Digital Songs with 226,000 downloads sold. The set's first preview track, "Kush," reached No. 34 on the Hot 100 and No. 22 on Digital Songs in December.

Enrique Iglesias' "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E, drops 5-6 on the Hot 100 and Far*East Movement's "Rocketeer," featuring Ryan Tedder, rises 9-7.
Rihanna's "What's My Name?," featuring Drake, falls 6-8. Likely aided by attention for its racy video, "S&M," Rihanna's follow-up single soars 66-31 as the Hot 100's Digital Gainer, storming 67-20 on Digital Songs (75,000, up 147%). The song concurrently starts as the highest new entry on Radio Songs at No. 57 (22 million, up 83%).

Pitbull's "Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor)," featuring T-Pain (7-9), and Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me" (8-10) each retreat two places on the Hot 100. Spears' song advances, however, 9-6 in just its fourth week on Radio Songs (81 million, up 11%).
Cee Lo Green's former top 10 "F**k You (Forget You)" claims the Hot 100's Airplay Gainer Award, jumping 19-16. The song, which, as previously reported, reaches a new peak on the Pop Songs chart five months after its release, also rockets to a new highpoint (42-23) on Radio Songs (44 million, up 42%). Green is expected to perform the song with Gwyneth Paltrow Sunday (Feb. 13) at the 53rd Grammy Awards. Among its four nominations, "F**k You (Forget You)" is up for coveted record and song of the year honors.
Chris Brown nabs the second-highest of the Hot 100's 10 debuts, as "Look at Me Now," featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, launches at No. 11. The track opens at No. 4 on Digital Songs (158,000).
The "Glee" cast claims the Hot 100's next three new entries with songs premiered on Sunday's post-Super Bowl episode. Its cover of Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" bows at No. 72, followed by its Michael Jackson/Yeah Yeah Yeahs mashup "Thriller / Heads Will Roll" (No. 75) and its remake of Destiny's Child's "Bills, Bills, Bills" (No. 79).
'Glee' Salutes St. Valentine with 'Silly Love Songs'
Following a full week of sales, the three "Glee" tracks, as well as the cast's five songs featured in last night's episode, including "Firework," are expected to populate the upper reaches of next week's Hot 100.

Will Next Week Bring The Billboard Hot 100's 1000th No. 1?
by Gary Trust | February 10, 2011 10:00 EST
Next week's Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, to be released on Billboard.com Feb. 17, is shaping up to be one of the most historic frames in the list's 52-year history.
Wiz Khalifa's 'Black And Yellow' Tops Hot 100
Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" rises 4-1 on the Hot 100 released today (Feb. 10) on Billboard.com, marking the 999th No. 1 title in the chart's archives. Which means: Dating from Ricky Nelson's "Poor Little Fool" the week the list originated -- Aug. 4, 1958 -- the Hot 100 is now just one song away from its landmark 1000th leader.
Which song might be the 1000th No. 1?
Interscope Records will service Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" to radio this Friday (Feb. 11) at 6 a.m. ET and iTunes three hours later. Other digital retailers are expected to offer the track within the following 24 hours.
With a heavy promotional push and Lady Gaga's expected buzzworthy performance Sunday (Feb. 13) at the 53rd Grammy Awards, to be telecast live on CBS, the lead single from the star's forthcoming third studio album could amass enough out-of-the-box sales and radio audience to secure the song coveted status as the Hot 100's 1000th chart-topper.
Also in the mix for No. 1 next week are P!nk's "F**kin' Perfect" and tracks from the cast of Fox TV's "Glee," which has released nine songs from episodes that aired Sunday (Feb. 6), following the Super Bowl, and last night (8).
Of course, to play wet-blanket devil's advocate, the wait for the 1000th Hot 100 No. 1 could last past next week, should "Black and Yellow" log a second week on top, or should a former No. 1, such as Bruno Mars' "Grenade" or Katy Perry's "Firework," return to the summit. (The Hot 100 currently employs a formula measuring radio airplay, as tabulated by BDS, sales, according to SoundScan, and streaming activity data provided by online music sources.)
Stay tuned for complete in-depth coverage and analysis of the pending milestone, 52 years in the making, on Billboard.com and Billboard.biz!
