Beyonce celebrates Christmas today (Dec. 25) with the No. 1 song on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, as "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) begins a third and sixth week atop them, respectively. The track sold 149,000 downloads in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

There's not much movement in the top 10 of the Hot 100 this week, as T.I.'s "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna holds at No. 2 and Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" featuring Colby O'Donis remains No. 3. Kanye West's "Heartless" is the chart's greatest airplay gainer and rises 7-4.

Britney Spears' "Womanizer" is up 6-5, Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" jumps 8-6 and Taylor Swift's "Love Story" climbs 11-7. Swift's "Fearless" (Big Machine) is in a third non-consecutive week at No. 1 on The Billboard 200.

Another West song, "Love Lockdown," moves 10-8, while T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" falls 5-9 and Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy" falls 9-10 to round out the top portion.

The All-American Rejects' "Gives You Hell" is the top digital gainer after selling 74,000 downloads, a 78% increase, and jumps 37-19 on the Hot 100. Leona Lewis' cover of Snow Patrol's "Run," a recent No. 1 hit in her native United Kingdom, is the top debut at No. 81.

Rascal Flatts' "Here" moves 2-1 on Hot Country Songs, marking the group's ninth chart-topper on the tally. The group this widens its lead with the most No. 1s since 2000; Lonestar ranks second with six in that stretch. The top debut on Hot Country Songs is Darius Rucker's cover of "Winter Wonderland" at No. 49.

Billboard's rock charts are unchanged, with Kings Of Leon's "Sex on Fire" in a third week atop Modern Rock and Shinedown leading Mainstream Rock for a second with "Second Chance."

On the Hot Dance Club Play chart, the Pussycat Dolls' "I Hate This Part" climbs to No. 1, the ensemble's fourth consecutive chart-topper (and its entire output of Club Play entries). "Hate" joins their previous No. 1s "Don't Cha," "Buttons" and "When I Grow Up." The Dolls' Interscope labelmate Weezer notches its very first Club Play hit at the opposite end of the tally, as "Troublemaker" debuts at No. 50.

Beyonce assumes control again of the Billboard Hot 100 with "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," trading places 2-1 for a second time in recent weeks with T.I.'s "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna. "Ladies" is also No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a fifth frame.


Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" featuring Colby O'Donis continues to rise 4-3, flip-flopping with Britney Spears' "Circus." T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" holds at No. 5 on the Hot 100, as Spears' "Womanizer" rebounds 10-6 and Kanye West's "Heartless" blasts 16-7 as the chart's greatest airplay gainer

Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" drops 7-8, Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy" slides 6-9 and Kanye West's "Love Lockdown" slides 8-10 to round out the top tier. T-Pain's "Can't Believe It" featuring Lil Wayne is the top digital gainer, jumping 23-18 after a 104% increase to 40,000 downloads in the United States, according to NIelsen SoundScan.

Sofía Margarita Vergara (born July 10, 1972) is a Colombian model and actress. She was born in Barranquilla, Atlantico, Colombia. Her mother is a homemaker and her father produced cattle for the meat industry. "La Toti" was the nickname given to Vergara by her five brothers and sisters and many cousins, including television news anchor and reporter Carlos Vergara, who currently works for WTVJ in Miami, Florida. She grew up between her hometown of Barranquilla and was raised in a well-off family, attending a private bilingual (Spanish/English) school. She got married at the age of 18, and she gave birth to her son Manolo in 1991 at the age of 19. The marriage did not last very long, and then she studied dentistry at a college in Colombia for three years. Vergara now lives in Miami and Los Angeles, and brought her mother, sister, and her son to live with her.

Sofía Margarita Vergara[1] (born July 10, 1972) is a Colombian model and actress. Since she was raised bilingual in English and Spanish, this his been an expedient in her making the transition from being a performer in Latin America in Spanish to becoming one in the United States in the English language. Dubbed "Sofia Viagra"[2][3], Vergara was already rather well-known in North America from her modeling work, and her first notable acting job in English was in the movie Chasing Papi.
Biography

Vergara was born in Barranquilla, Atlantico, Colombia.[2] Her mother is a homemaker and her father produced cattle for the meat industry.[4][5] "Toti"[1] was the nickname given to Vergara by her five brothers and sisters and many cousins, including television news anchor and reporter Carlos Vergara, who works for WTVJ in Miami, Florida. She grew up in her hometown of Barranquilla and was raised in a well-off family, attending a private bilingual Spanish/English school. Vergara was married at the age of 18 to her childhood sweetheart,[2] and she gave birth to her son Manolo in 1992[6] at the age of 20.[4] After the break-up of her marriage, Vergara studied pre-dentistry at a university in Colombia for three years.[4] Then, many opportunities arose to work in modeling and in show business, and Vergara decided to pursue these in Latin America. Soon she decided to move to Miami, Florida, to take advantage of opportunites and to move away from unrest in Colombia (her older brother[7] had been murdered in 1998[1] during an attempt to kidnap him that went awry[4]). She brought her son, mother, and sister with her.

Vergara's son Manolo lives in Westwood, Los Angeles, California, where he goes to high school.

Vergara was discovered by a photographer while walking on a Colombian beach. Soon she was presented with attractive offers in modeling and television work, and she considered accepting them. Having been raised rather conservatively and religiously, this was confusing at first. According to an article in the January 2002 issue of Maxim, Vergara was "apprehensive about doing her first television commercial—until her Catholic schoolteachers gave her their personal permission to take the assignment."[8]. Vergara made her first appearance as a performer at the age of 17 in a Pepsi commercial that was widely broadcast in Latin America.[9] In order to support her son, mother, and younger siblings who needed her financial support in the absence of her father, who had left the family, Vergara dropped out of college to earn an income.

Vergara moved to Bogotá at the age of 20, where she worked as a model on the runway and on television. From 1995 to 1999, she was co-host with Fernando Fiore on Fuera de Serie ("Out of the Ordinary" or "Over-the-Top"), a series which sent her to exotic places all over the world (a travel series similar to the U.S. show Wild On!). It was telecast on the international Univision Spanish-language television network, and it made her a star in the Latin American market. It also gave Vergara television exposure in the United States via the Univision stations there. She co-hosted the Univision show A que no te atreves ("I Dare You"). She appeared as a guest star on the HBO series Entourage.

Besides runway and catalog modeling work, Vergara did independent projects. She was photographed for posters and swimsuit calendars in 1998, 2000, and 2002. These were wide sellers in Latin America, and they also appeared in the North American market. Vergara appeared in Spanish-language television ads, and she posed in swimsuits for posters for Miller Lite beer.

Vergara is 1.70 m (5 ft 7 in) tall, and she has naturally light brown/sunbleached-blonde hair[6] (for movies and television, she is sometimes asked to color it brunette to make her look more typically Latina). Vergara was under an exclusive television contract with Univision for several years, and after it expired she accepted a role with the ABC network in the United States. Vergara appeared on the ABC situation comedies Hot Properties and The Knights of Prosperity.

Vergara currently plays Alicia Oviedo in the Colombian version of the television show Desperate Housewives, which is called Amas de Casa Desesperadas. She also appears on the ABC drama Dirty Sexy Money as Jeremy Darling's love interest. Vergara has made guest appearances in the Mexican telenovela Fuego En La Sangre.

She will be starring in the 2009 Madea Goes to Jail, a film adaptation written and directed by Tyler Perry.[10]

In 2002, Vergara was diagnosed and treated for thyroid cancer.[2]

Sofia has recently done a commercial for the Cadillac Escalade, where she defies the common view that women prefer a vehicle with numerous cupholders, saying researchers should get to know "....a different kind of woman."[citation needed]

Britney Debuts Big, But T.I. Tops Hot 100

T.I.'s "Live Your Life" flips 2-1 with Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" on the Billboard Hot 100 to score its sixth non-consecutive week at the top. Meanwhile, Britney Spears scores her first top 10 debut as "Circus" starts at No. 3.

The song, which she performed live on ABC's "Good Morning America" the day her No. 1 album of the same name hit retail, also opens at No. 1 on Hot Digital Songs with 212,000 downloads. With her former No. 1 single "Womanizer" at No. 10 on the Hot 100, Spears places two tracks simultaneously in that chart's top 10 for the first time in her career.

On the Hot 100, Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" featuring Colby O'Donis rises 5-4, trading places with T.I.'s "Whatever You Like." Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy" slides 3-6, as Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" inches up 8-7.

Kanye West's "Love Lockdown" jumps 13-8 thanks to a 14% digital uptick to 98,000 copies. Ne-Yo's "Miss Independent" slides 7-9 to round out the top 10. Akon's "Beautiful" featuring Colby O'Donis and Kardinal Offishall debuts at No. 19 with digital sales of 92,000.

On Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, "Single Ladies" remains No. 1 for a fourth week. Jay-Z's "Brooklyn Go Hard" featuring Santogold is the top debut at No. 62. The song is included on Bad Boy's "Notorious" soundtrack.

Montgomery Gentry zooms 3-1 on Hot Country Songs with "Roll With Me," its fifth chart-topper there. Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas," with contemporary vocal overdubs from Martina McBride, is the top debut at No. 43.

Kings Of Leon scores its first No. 1 on Billboard's Modern Rock chart with "Sex on Fire," which unseats the Offspring's "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" after an 11-week reign. There's a new leader on Mainstream Rock as well, as Apocalyptica "I Don't Care" featuring Adam Gontier jumps 2-1 to dethrone AC/DC's "Rock'n'Roll Train" after three weeks.

Beyonce notches her fifth solo No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," one more than she scored while a member of Destiny's Child. The cut rises 2-1 after selling 228,000 downloads in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

T.I.'s "Live You Life" thus drops 1-2, while another Beyonce song, "If I Were a Girl," holds at No. 3 and T.I.'s former chart-topper "Whatever You Like" stays at No. 4. Newcomer Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" featuring Colby O'Donis rises 7-5, as Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" slides 5-6.

Ne-Yo's "Miss Independent" jumps 9-7, Pink's "So What" sticks at No. 8, Britney Spears' "Womanizer" inches up 12-9 and Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" rises 13-10 to round out the top tier.

The Fray's "You Found Me" is the top digital gainer thanks to second-week download sales of 145,000, and rises 28-15 on the Hot 100. The chart's top debut comes from Kanye West's "See You in My Nightmares" featuring Lil Wayne, which starts at No. 21.

On Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, "Single Ladies" begins a third week at No. 1. Zac Brown Band's "Chicken Fried" starts a second week atop Hot Country Songs with "Chicken Fried."

Already on track to have the best-selling album of 2008, rapper Lil Wayne leads the nominations for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards with eight, including album of the year and best rap album for "Tha Carter III," best rap song for "Lollipop" and best rap/sung collaboration for "Got Money" featuring T-Pain.

Other leading artists are Coldplay, who earned seven nominations, and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo and Kanye West, who each scored six.

In album of the year, the nominees were: Coldplay for "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends," Lil Wayne for "Tha Carter III," Ne-Yo for "Year of the Gentlemen," Robert Plant and Alison Krauss for "Raising Sand" and Radiohead for "In Rainbows."

For record of the year, the nominees were: Adele for "Chasing Pavements," Coldplay for "Viva La Vida," Leona Lewis for "Bleeding Love," M.I.A. for "Paper Planes" and Plant & Krauss for "Please Read the Letter."

Song of the year nominees include: "American Boy," by songwriters William Adams, Keith Harris, Josh Lopez, Caleb Speir, John Stephens, Estelle Swaray and Kanye West; "Chasing Pavements" by songwriters Adele Adkins and Eg White; "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz; "Love Song" by Sara Bareilles; and "Viva La Vida" by songwriters Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Chris Martin.

Two of West's nominations came for his production on "Tha Carter III" and "American Boy." Jay-Z also faces off against himself in that category, with "Swagga" going up against his collaboration with Wayne on "Mr. Carter."

In the best new artist category, Adele, Duffy, the Jonas Brothers, Lady Antebellum and Jazmine Sullivan received nominations.

In the best pop collaboration category with vocals, the nominees were: Alicia Keys and John Mayer for "Lessons Learned," Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland for "4 Minutes," Plant and Krauss for "Rich Woman," Rihanna and Maroon 5 for "If I Never See Your Face Again" and Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown for "No Air."

Brooks & Dunn's "God Must Be Busy," Lady Antebellum's "Love Don't Live Here," Rascal Flatts' "Everyday," the SteelDrivers' "Blue Side of the Mountain" and Sugarland's "Stay" are up for best country performance by a duo or group with vocals.

Danger Mouse, Nigel Godrich, Johnny Karkazis, Rick Rubin, and will.i.am are nominated for producer of the year, non-classical.

For the first time this year, the Recording Academy unveiled nominations in the top categories via a primetime concert special on CBS. Co-hosted by Taylor Swift and LL Cool J from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, it featured performances by Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Mayer and B.B. King and the Foo Fighters, all singing their favorite songs that have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Proceeds will benefit the Grammy Museum, which opens Dec. 6 at the L.A. Live complex in downtown Los Angeles.

Grammy ballots will be mailed Dec. 17; they are due back on Jan. 14, 2009. The 51st Annual Grammy Awards will be held Feb. 8, 2009 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and again broadcast on CBS.
