Miley Cyrus' 'Climb' Debuts High On Hot 100

Miley Cyrus climbs into the Hot 100.
March 12, 2009 10:04 AM ET
Keith Caulfield, L.A.
While Flo Rida's "Right Round" (featuring Ke$ha) retains the top slot on the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth week in a row, Miley Cyrus is the big chart news this week, as her single "The Climb" crashes in at No. 6 in its debut week.
The track, from the "Hannah Montana: The Movie" soundtrack, due March 24, is Cyrus' highest-charting effort, surpassing the No. 9 peak of "7 Things" from July 2008.
The new song's 166,000 digital downloads is also the artist's best single-week sales sum. "The Climb" debuts at No. 3 on the Hot Digital Songs chart.
Elsewhere in the top 10, T.I. featuring Justin Timberlake's "Dead and Gone" spends a fourth straight week stuck at No. 2, while Lady GaGa's "Poker Face" earns the Greatest Gainer/Airplay award at No. 3 with the still surging song. "Kiss Me Thru the Phone," by Soulja Boy Tell'em featuring Sammie, also stands still at No. 4, but retains its bullet.
The All-American Rejects' "Gives You Hell" is also a non-mover at No. 5, as is Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" at No. 7. Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You" skips one spot up the tally to No. 9 while Jamie Foxx's "Blame It" (featuring T-Pain), jumps from No. 12 to No. 10. It's Foxx's first top 10 hit since 2006, when "Unpredictable" (featuring Ludacris) peaked at No. 8. "Blame It" is also still atop of the Bilboard R&B/Hip Hop Charts for a fifth consecutive week.
The Greatest Gainer/Digital trophy goes to the fast-rising "I Love College" single from new hip-hop artist Asher Roth. The song climbs from No. 22 to No. 17 in only its fourth chart week and has sold 360,000 downloads in its six weeks of release.
Beyonce collects her 16th solo top 40 hit on the Hot 100 as "Halo" motors to No. 37 (up from No. 41 last week). As part of Destiny's Child, she racked up another 13 top 40 singles.
All told, there are 13 new debuts on the Hot 100 this week, along with two re-entries. Aside from Cyrus' grand entrance, other notable new arrivals include LMFAO's "I'm In Miami Trick" at No. 73, U2's "Magnificent" at No. 79, The-Dream featuring Mariah Carey's "My Love" at No. 82, MGMT's "Kids" at No. 91, the White Tie Affair's "Candle (Sick and Tired)" at No. 93 and Lady GaGa's "Lovegame" at No. 96. Taylor Swift's "You're Not Sorry" re-enters at No. 67 thanks to renewed interest in the song after it was released in a special "CSI Mix" following her guest appearance on the drama series on March 5.
At No. 82, Carey's 39th chart entry is only her second as a featured artist. She last took a secondary role on Jadakiss' "U Make Me Wanna," which peaked at No. 21 in 2004.
Additional reporting by Silvio Pietroluongo in New York and Xavier Thompson in Jamaica.
